It's been three years to the day since Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi changed the celebration game forever.

The Argentine magician turned in one of his greatest ever El Clasico performances on April 23, 2017 as Barca secured a priceless 3-2 victory over Real Madrid.

It was a win that blew the La Liga title race wide open that season and victory was earned in the sweetest possible way for the Blaugrana.

Messi secured all three points with a dramatic late winner and proceeded to deliver one of the most iconic goal celebrations ever seen on a football pitch.

With Madridistas around the stadium in disbelief, Messi - Los Blancos' arch nemesis - proceeded to take off his jersey and hold it aloft for the small section of Barca fans up in the Gods to see.

The pictures of that celebration from that night have been firmly etched into footballing folklore for all eternity and you can watch Messi's famous goal below, set to the bellowing commentary of Ray Hudson.

The Barcelona star was, of course, booked for his celebration but he didn't care one bit.

His eternal enemy Cristiano Ronaldo was devastated, but the Portuguese would have the last laugh as Real Madrid just about secured the title on the final day.

But despite his efforts being in vain come May, Messi's goal and celebration will continue to be admired for decades.

It's a celebration that's hard to mimic. The setting needs to be right and you need to be a player good enough to warrant performing such an act.

Oh and you also have to be certain that opposing fans won't go absolutely bonkers. Sadly, Nabil Fekir didn't abide by the latter during his days with Lyon.

During a fierce local derby against Saint-Etienne, Fekir mimicked Messi's celebrations and the home crowd were not happy - to say the least.

It's certainly not a celebration to add to your regular repertoire...
