Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted the Premier League's greatest ever winger by football fans.

The Portuguese superstar spent six years with Manchester United between 2003 and 2009, winning the Ballon d'Or in 2008.

Ronaldo was simply unplayable during the 2007/08 season, scoring 31 goals and assisting another 7 in his 34 Premier League games.

Throughout the course of his United career, the now 35-year-old scored 118 goals and assisted another 69 in his 292 appearances, winning three league titles and the Champions League.

Votes to name the Premier League's were cast over on Football Tweet's official Twitter account and the United legend won by an absolute landslide.

Competing with fellow Red Devils icons Ryan Giggs and David Beckham, as well as former Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard, Ronaldo accrued a whopping 49.1% of the 27,000 votes cast.

In his semi-final, the Portuguese was put alongside Gareth Bale, Raheem Sterling and Marc Overmars and his winning margin was even more significant.

Of those 25,000 votes, Ronaldo earned 79.7% of them.

It's hard to make a case against the Portuguese in this scenario. Aside from Arsenal phenomenon Thierry Henry, no player has lit up the Premier League quite like Ronaldo did for a brief time.

In terms of longevity and consistency, Giggs would have been an obvious winner, but the Welshman cannot compare to the likes of Ronaldo and Hazard in terms of natural talent.

Future polls will likely see two more names enter into the final in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

This time around, Salah was defeated by Hazard, while Mane simply couldn't compete with Beckham in Football Tweet's second semi-final.

But with Liverpool all set to enter a period of dominance and on the cusp of their first Premier League title, Salah and Mane's stock will only continue to grow.

Watch out Cristiano, you may not be the winner when the votes are recast 10 years from now!
