Vince McMahon’s bad moods have reportedly “become a running joke and source of laughter” inside the WWE locker room.
WWE and its CEO hit the headlines last week after one of the biggest talent culls in company history due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Top in-ring talent such as Rusev and the tag team of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were brutally released in a string of press releases beginning last Wednesday.
Heath Slater, Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins, who had long tenures of over a decade, were sent their P45 too amongst other talent.
Behind the curtain, legends such as Kurt Angle, Lance Storm and Shane Helms were “furloughed” as many producers and agents were cut.
Once British independent scene wrestler Spud, now named Drake Maverick, broke down in tears in an emotional social media speech after he received the horrendous news.
McMahon has come under fire from all around him, perhaps especially when he received a £2.8m share dividend payout from WWE.
His other major venture – the XFL – has been forced to shut down midway through its first season back since 2001, which has led to a lawsuit filed against him.
A report from PWInsider has claimed that McMahon has become a “grumpy S.O.B.” in the immediate aftermath of the XFL’s filing for bankruptcy.
Sources have stated that they are trying to stay clear of the billionaire for as long as possible.
An unnamed source claimed that they would “go outside and sit in their car or take the widest possible path” to avoid McMahon.
PWInsider went on to claim his huffs were “a running joke within the company."
In what was a horrendous week for all involved in the wrestling community, it got worse when the news broke of legendary ring announcer Howard Finkel’s passing.
‘The Fink’ had suffered a stroke last February, and after an illness, died at the age of 69.
