Roy Keane silences Sky Sports presenter when asked about his lockdown beard

Roy Keane took no prisoners during his illustrious playing career and the Manchester United legend’s fearsome reputation remains intact since retiring in 2006.

The 48-year-old doesn’t suffer fools gladly and isn’t someone you’d want to get on the wrong side of.

Working with the Irishman, who currently works as a pundit for Sky Sports, must be a bit of a nightmare at times.

However, Keane is always brilliant value for viewers, hence why Sky Sports added him to their star-studded list of pundits in September 2019.

Unlike other pundits, Keane is never afraid to say what he really thinks - even if it means upsetting people.

Sir Alex Ferguson once said that Keane possesses a “savage tongue” and anyone who has watched the former Premier League midfielder in his role as a pundit will know that assessment couldn’t be more true.

Despite this, Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones still thought it would be a good idea to ask Keane about his beard during a streamed episode of ‘The Football Show’ with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

First, Jones began by telling Keane that it could be another 182 days before hairdressers re-open in the UK.

Irked by the inane question, a stony-faced Keane responded: “No, I didn’t see that this morning. That’s good. I don’t know what you want me to say to it.”

Jones then took his life into his own hands by adding: “Who does the beard normally?”

“Er… what do you mean who does the beard?” Keane responded.

Jones, sounding a little nervous, replied: “Well, does anyone trim it, or are you going to see how it comes out the other side of lockdown?”

Keane, clearly irritated now, said: “No. Just see how it goes.”

All Jones could say to that was: “Good.”

Carragher and Neville defused the situation by bursting into laughter, while the former shouted: “You look a bit nervous, Dave!”

Trying to play it cool, Jones said: “I’m reasonably relaxed, I’m 200 miles away from Roy!”

But it’s safe to assume he might be a little anxious the next time he meets Keane at Sky Sports HQ.

Always think twice before attempting to have a laugh with Keano.
