Vince McMahon believes losing Brock Lesnar and pushing new talent is behind a fall in Monday Night RAW's ratings.
WWE's flagship programme hit a new low this week, with April 20th's episode drawing an average of 1.842 million viewers.
That's the lowest viewership for a non-holiday week of RAW in history and the numbers have fallen by a massive 22% since January.
Given the current climate, it's perhaps not surprising that WWE are struggling with TV ratings.
All episodes of RAW, SmackDown and NXT are airing from an empty Performance Center and it's proving very difficult to run any form of sports entertainment during the coronavirus pandemic.
But rather than blaming that situation, McMahon believes RAW's ratings are suffering due to his new talent and Lesnar's departure.
"We no longer have Brock Lesnar, but we have a new champion and a lot of new performers coming in. That's the reason," McMahon said during an investors call, per WhatCulture.
"[Raw] has suffered, but not necessarily because of the environment. It's suffered because we bring in a lot of new talent and it takes a while to get new talent over.
"[It's about] how you use those performers in this story or that story. I'm convinced the RAW ratings will bounce back considerably."
It seems McMahon really does value Lesnar as a massive draw for WWE. But he's unlikely to be appearing on RAW anytime soon.
The Beast lost his WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 and it's now time for the Brit to lead the Red Brand during these uncertain times.
While it's clear that RAW is losing viewers, McMahon was also quick to note during the call to investors that there 'has virtually been no change' in SmackDown's ratings.
That's certainly a positive, but with the flagship show struggling, it appears there may be cause for concern in WWE.
