Real Madrid enjoyed a period of European dominance like no other in the modern era by winning the Champions League three years in a row between 2016 and 2018.From Sergio Ramos leading at the back and Luka Modric pulling the strings in midfield to Cristiano Ronaldo firing in goals, the team's place in history is well and truly cemented.In their 2017 triumph, Los Blancos beat rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals before thumping Juventus 4-1 in the final, but it's their quarter-final second leg that was most controversial.Real met Bayern Munich in the last eight and came out of the first leg at the Allianz Arena with a 2-1 advantage thanks to a brace from Ronaldo.Bayern were eventually eliminated after extra time in the second match at the Bernabeu, but a new video full of poor refereeing decisions shows just how unlucky the German champions were.
Real beat Bayern 4-2 after extra time
In a frantic encounter in Madrid, Bayern went ahead on the night and levelled the tie 2-2 on aggregate eight minutes after half-time through a Robert Lewandowski penalty.
Cristiano Ronaldo put the hosts' noses in front once more but an own goal by Sergio Ramos meant an additional thirty minutes were required to separate the two European giants.
With Bayern 2-1 up on the night, Madrid ran away from Bayern Munich in extra time after Ronaldo completed his hat-trick and Marco Asensio added a fourth.
So, Real Madrid won 4-2 (6-3 on aggregate), however there were a number of crucial decisions that went against Bayern - and there's simply no excuse for some of them.
The terrible decisions that cost Bayern
We have to start with Casemiro, not only because he gave Bayern a penalty after bringing down Arjen Robben in the box, but because he also ended up assisting Ronaldo's first goal.
The Brazilian did receive a yellow card in the 40th-minute but, as you'll see below, he made three other cynical challenges during the match that he wasn't cautioned for by referee Viktor Kassai.
In contrast, Bayern midfielder picked up a yellow card for the very first foul he committed in the game and was then dismissed for what looked like a fair albeit strong tackle on Asensio.
If that wasn't enough, Lewandowski was wrongly called offside when clean through on goal when Bayern were 1-0 up and Ronaldo was clearly offside for two of his goals.
