Highly rated Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has emerged as a summer transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur reports the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old Spanish star is regarded as one of the hottest properties in La Liga having turned in a series of scintillating performances for Los Rojiblancos this season.

Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is lining up a summer bid as he continues to look to strengthen his attacking options at White Hart Lane.

Sevilla will be reluctant to sell their star striker, especially after the sale of Luis Fabiano to Sao Paulo earlier this month, so they will be doing everything in their power to ward off interest from potential suitors.

Negredo has experienced two previous spells at the Bernabeau playing for Real Madrid – who also have a first option buy-back clause on the player who returned to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for a fee in the region of €17million.

His ability has never been in doubt, and Negredo has proved his goalscoring pedigree by finding the net 16 times in 43 appearances for Sevilla this campaign.

Tottenham will likely renew their interest after prioritising a free-scoring striker addition in the summer, and have been monitoring Negredo for the past two years.

However, a move to White Hart Lane may be difficult to orchestrate after the Spaniard, who has been capped four times for his country, played down speculation linking him with a summer move to Spurs, or anywhere else for that matter.

"Here in Seville, I am doing well and I like living here," said Negredo in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

"I want to continue playing here and hope to bring a lot of success to the club."
