Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard famously slipped against Chelsea on this day in 2014.In one of the most notorious moments in Premier League history, the Reds' captain failed to control a pass after he lost his footing and watched as Demba Ba raced through on goal to score.Jose Mourinho had implemented negative tactics all game long and such a costly error allowed him to protect a one-goal lead, before ultimately doubling it on the counterattack after the break. As a result, Liverpool lost the game 2-0 and surrendered control of the title race, eventually watching in vein as Manchester City romped their way to a second championship in three years. And although the Reds are poised to exorcise the demons of that year with a long-awaited title under Jurgen Klopp, it won't be enough to fill the anomalous void in Gerrard's trophy cabinet.

Gerrard's infamous slip

The 39-year-old, who is now manager of Rangers, has openly admitted that the costly error has lived with him ever since and that few days go by when it doesn't cross his mind.

“This wound has been open since that experience,” he said, per talkSPORT. “I’m not sure it will close because I can’t change that experience. It doesn’t affect how I feel towards what I’m looking in on now.

“I don’t drive myself crazy over it. At the same time, it was such a big year. It was the trophy that eluded me. I think about it most days. A Liverpool team winning the league would help how I feel for sure."

Man City fan's brutal video

But perhaps one of the hard aspects of such a high profile error is that rival fans continue to give him a hard time about it, waving 'slippery surface' signs about and nicknaming him 'Slippy G'.

You'd think that the jokes would decrease as the years go by, but the sixth anniversary has prompted one City fan to arguably drive in the knife more than ever.

That's because Twitter user @Priceless_Silva has created a two-minute edit of the slip that has gone viral, racking up 1,300 retweets and 4,100 'likes', for being cruel and funny in equal measure.

Check out the video down below to either cry with happiness or sadness:

Oof. Let's hope Gerrard himself doesn't stumble across the video.

It will forever seem uncanny that Gerrard's exact turn of his phrase to his teammates after the City win was 'this does not slip', but that was by no means the most amusing part of the edit.

That accolade must go to the clip from 'The Redmen TV' of their presenter looking so chuffed and enveloping himself in other Liverpool fans awkwardly chanting 'we're gonna win the league'.

Marrying that to a smash cut of Gerrard slipping over and over again as well as clips from 'Crystanbul' and the City squad lifting the trophy makes for pretty brutal viewing.

However, as much as Gerrard's slip will always live on in himself and across social media, it will never take away from what the legendary midfielder achieved on Merseyside.

We can't be alone in thinking THAT performance in Istanbul and an FA Cup final literally named after him are more than enough to overwhelm one little slip that could have been oh-so trivial.
