Manchester United has been given a significant boost in their pursuit of Dutch international Wesley Sneijder, with the Daily Mirror reporting the Inter Milan midfielder has approached United with his intentions to join the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly chased Sneijder in the last summer transfer window, but the midfielder refused to leave Inter Milan and signed a new deal with them. However, speculation is growing that Sneijder is coming around to the idea of playing English football, in particular for Manchester United.

While Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said he did not want to sell Sneijder, this new development means if Sneijder wants to leave, Moratti will be left little choice but to let the star go.

“The interest from Manchester United in Sneijder is real,” Massimo Moratti told reporters earlier this week.

“I didn’t look into it [the interest from United]. My only interest is seeing Sneijder play here for many more years to come,” Moratti said.

While Manchester United's interest in Sneijder has been long documented, this is the first time it has been reported that Sneijder has shown his intentions to head to Old Trafford.
