Ronaldo Nazario is considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time.

The modern day conversation might be dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but what the Brazilian superstar produced in his early days will never be replicated in the beautiful game.

Even those who cast doubt on his place in the GOAT debate will probably admit that the throne would have been his if serious knee injuries didn't derail his best years at Inter Milan.

And although Ronaldo would still produce iconic performances for Real Madrid and score two goals in the 2002 World Cup final, it remains those early seasons that were the greatest of all.

That could mean pointing towards his Cruzeiro and PSV Eindhoven days or perhaps his first year at the San Siro but come on, is there anything more iconic than his spell with Barcelona?

Ronaldo's legendary Barcelona season

After two barnstorming campaigns with PSV that reaped a mind-blowing 54 goals in 57 games, the Brazilian moved to Spain for what will endure as perhaps the greatest ever one-off seasons.

Under the guidance of Sir Bobby Robson, Ronaldo romped his way to an insane 47 goals from 49 appearances and became the youngest recipient of FIFA's Player of the Year award.

Thirty-four of his goals came in La Liga alone, although Real ultimately won the title, and Ronaldo was rewarded with trophies in the Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

Ronaldo's 'craziest skills' at Barca

We could go on and on, but the fact of the matter is that Ronaldo's one and only season at Camp Nou was the stuff of legend and the footage is just as insane as the statistics he produced.

Don't believe us? Well, compilations from the mid-1990s aren't the easiest things to come by, but YouTuber 'FOOT BALLISTA' bucked that trend by combing through the archives last summer.

And although Barcelona themselves have uploaded all of Ronaldo's goals for them, this video goes one step further by showing his 'craziest skills' and forgotten moments in Catalonia.

So, do yourself a favour and watch six minutes of 'El Fenomeno' at his unstoppable best:

Simply unstoppable. Wow.

La Liga defenders didn't know what hit them when Ronaldo came racing towards them at 100mph with enough step-overs and body feints to make his legs look like strobe lighting.

But even if you're one of the more skeptical football fans amongst us, then allow us to point you towards some interesting quotes from Jose Mourinho, who worked with Ronaldo in 1996-97.

"Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers, they have remained at the top every day for 15 years," Mourinho told Live Score last year.

"However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo [Nazario]. When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realised that he was the best player I'd ever seen take to the field.

"Injuries killed a career that could have been even more incredible, but the talent that that 19-year-old boy had was something incredible."

Nuff said, right?
