Newcastle ready to offer Mauricio Pochettino £19m-per-year to become their new manager

It’s set to be a new era for Newcastle United fans.

Supporters of the Magpies have been calling on owner Mike Ashley to leave the club for years and years.

And it appears their long wait is finally over.

Reports emerged earlier this month that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund had agreed a £340 million deal to buy the club.

The company, led by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman, is believed to be worth a ridiculous £260 billion.

That means Newcastle’s prospective new owners are worth over 10x more than Man City’s owners.

If the deal does indeed go through, you can bet that Newcastle will be making a splash in the transfer market.

And one position they intend to upgrade is their manager.

Steve Bruce has done fairly well at Newcastle United this season.

But let’s be honest, he’s not one of the best managers in the world and Newcastle’s prospective new owners will be aiming higher.

And, according to Sky Sports, their number one target is Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine manager has been out of work since leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the back end of last year.

Pochettino is said to be interested in the role and Newcastle and prepared to pay him a mouthwatering £19 million-per-year.

That’s the equivalent to £355,000-per-week, which is a ridiculous amount of money.

According to the Daily Mail, that figure would make him the third highest-paid manager in the world and the second highest-paid manager in the Premier League.

1. Diego Simeone – £36.2m

2. Pep Guardiola – £20m

3*. Mauricio Pochettino – £19m

4= Jose Mourinho – £15m

4= Jurgen Klopp – £15m

6. Zinedine Zidane – £14m

Pochettino had a tremendous amount of success at Tottenham, making them perennial a top four side and leading them to the Champions League final.

And the most impressive part of his spell at the north London club is that he managed to have success despite not having much money to spend.

When you think of how he thrived at Tottenham, just imagine how well he could do at Newcastle where he has an unlimited amount of money to play with.

It’s a dream proposition for Newcastle. Convincing Pochettino to take the reigns at the club, no matter the price, would be a masterstroke.
