It was announced earlier this week that Ligue 1 had ended their season.

The French government announced that no sporting events would take place until September.

That means that Neymar may have played his last game for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian forward has reportedly been agitating for a move back to Barcelona for the past year.

And he may finally get his way this summer.

Neymar's spell at Paris Saint-Germain has been turbulent.

When on the pitch, he's been nothing short of tremendous. He's played 80 times in the past three seasons, scoring 69 goals.

Before leagues across Europe came to a halt, Neymar had statistically been the second best player in the top five leagues, behind only Lionel Messi.

However, despite being immense on the pitch, Neymar hasn't necessarily been value for money.

Paris Saint-Germain shocked everyone when they decided to pay a world-record fee of £198 million for Neymar back in 2017.

They also paid him astronomical wages for him to join the club.

That means, in the past three years, PSG have paid Neymar £62 million in wages.

But Neymar hasn't always been able to play due to persistent injuries.

Of the 155 games he's been available for, he's played in just 80 of them.

So that means, in total, Neymar has cost PSG a staggering £3.25 million-per-game.

Wow. That's a lot of money.

As good as Neymar has been, it's fair to say he hasn't had the desired effect.

PSG brought him to try and win the Champions League.

However, he's been unable to guide them past the quarter-final stages in that time.

He has helped PSG to five honours, including back-to-back Ligue 1 titles.

But, ultimately, it was the Champions League that the club craved and he hasn't been able to deliver.

That means, should he leave PSG in the summer, he would leave the club having failed to achieve what PSG so desperately wanted.
