The Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal rivalry is one of the greatest rivals in recent sport’s history.

Both will go down as two of the greatest tennis players of all time, and probably two of the greatest sportsmen of all time, but who is out there on their own?

A recent poll run by GiveMeSport on their official Facebook page favours Federer with a staggering 71% believing that the Swiss outclasses Nadal in the sport.

The poll received over 55,000 votes and seemingly answers the question 'who is the tennis GOAT?'

In terms of facing one another, they have played each other 40 times, with Nadal leading the head-to-head 24–16.

Their most recent encounter was in the semi-final of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, where Federer defeated Nadal in four sets.

Both have won everything there is in the sport.

Federer has 20 Grand Slams to his name, with Nadal just one behind on 19. They are first and second on the men’s all-time list for Grand Slams won, and hold numerous other records between them.

Together, they have won 11 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments, from the 2005 French Open to the 2007 US Open, as well as six consecutive Grand Slam tournaments on two occasions; from the 2008 French Open to the 2009 Wimbledon Championships, and from the 2017 Australian Open to the 2018 French Open.

There is no doubt we have two of the greatest players of all time shortlisted, the maestro and the matador, and they both will certainly be regarded as legends of the sport.
