Football fans believe Jadon Sancho is the best winger in world football, ahead of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

In a poll on GiveMeSport’s Facebook page, followers were asked “If you could only have one, who you taking?” with the options Sancho and Sterling.

A majority of 63% opted to support Sancho as former Liverpool sensation Sterling had to settle for just 37% of the 69,000 votes.

While the figures showed a clear balance of support to Sancho over Sterling, voters still seemed divided when expanding on their decisions.

One user wrote: “Sterling deff improved under Pep, but all I remember is his horrendous finishing as he wasted most of the half-chances Man City midfield maestros have created for him, granted a lot of them were because of his pace... if his finishing was better he could probably get into the 20s for the last 3 seasons. Sancho needs to go to EPL to really show what he can do.”

Another added: “Sterling has improved he's good...at Liverpool he was average now he's good but overrated cause of the players around him...Pep bought him to do a job and he does it. Sancho is younger and is already at his level.”

A third user said: “Of course currently Sterling is better than Sancho but he plays with other 'older' who have a lot of experience players like Aguero, Fernandinho, De Bruyne etc. While Sancho is playing with a lot of youngsters like Haaland, Julian Brandt, Zagadou. Sancho has also broken the record for highest goalscorer ever by a teenager in the Bundesliga at this age!”

Sancho has had a stellar rise through the ranks with Borussia Dortmund.

In his breakthrough season three campaigns ago, the 20-year-old scored one goal in 12 appearances.

His form made a huge increase the following year as he scored 13 goals and contributed 19 assists across 43 matches.

This season Sancho has scored 16 and added 18 assists from 34 appearances before the coronavirus pandemic suspended football.
