Timo Werner is one of the hottest strikers in world football right now.In his 25 Bundesliga games in 2019/20, the 24-year-old striker has scored 21 goals and assisted another seven.Werner has also been prolific in the Champions League, scoring four goals and recording another two assists in his eight appearances.It's no wonder that Europe's elite are keeping a close eye on the German and as is the case with most of the Bundesliga's finest, Werner has been rigorously linked with Bayern Munich.But Werner himself has actually dismissed the possibility of him leaving RB Leipzig for their bitter Bavarian rivals and stated that he would prefer a move to a foreign league.The prolific striker told Sport Bild: "A challenge in a foreign league would appeal to me rather than a move to Bayern."
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed Jurgen Klopp's desire to sign him for Liverpool, with the club continuously working on the signing.
Other clubs have reportedly entered the race to sign Werner, but surely that's to be expected for a player of his undoubted calibre, right?
Were Liverpool to pull of the deal, it would be yet another huge statement of intent from the best club side on the planet right now.
Werner's versatility and ability to play either as a centre-forward or a winger would see him provide quality cover for Liverpool's entire front three.
There is also the possibility of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino AND Werner lining up as a fearsome attacking quartet.
Firmino could drop into more of an advanced midfield role, with Werner leading the line in the centre of Mane and Salah.
On paper, that front line would be simply unplayable. Whether it would destabilise Liverpool as a defensive unit is another matter entirely.
