WWE will be allowed to welcome a crowd to shows at the Performance Center in Orlando, starting from next week.
Tapings of SmackDown, RAW, NXT and even WrestleMania have been behind-closed-doors since March 9 due to the coronavirus crisis.
But now, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has revealed his guidelines for re-opening the state and pro-wrestling events will be allowed spectators as soon as May 4.
Per a report on Wrestling News, the new rules state the following:
"Large spectator sporting events should use strict social distancing guidelines and limit occupancy of venues to 25 percent of building capacity."
That means WWE can start inviting fans to the Performance Center next week if they want to, while AEW can welcome a crowd to Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, where they are taping Dynamite.
It's not yet known if either promotion will choose to adjust tapings in line with these new guidelines, or if they will wait a while before bringing a live audience back.
WWE are currently pre-taping all episodes of SmackDown, RAW and NXT anyway, so they may choose to wait until live broadcasts return before opening up the set.
On top of that, this month's Money in the Bank pay-per-view event is already scheduled to take place at WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut. There will be no fans in attendance there either.
It might be a different story for AEW, though.
The rival promotion currently have their Double Or Nothing pay-per-view scheduled to air live on Saturday, May 23rd and could choose to involve a crowd.
But with all arenas limited to 25% of their capacity, is it even worth bringing in a small number of fans just for the sake of it? Only time will tell.
