‘The Gypsy King’ revealed that he plans to continue boxing until he is 40-years old as he now believes he can dominate the sport for the best part of a decade.

It has previously been reported as recently as March that the new WBC heavyweight champion had up to three fights left in him before sailing into the sunset.

Fury’s wife Paris has also said that she just wants her husband to defeat fellow Brit WBA (Super), IBF and WBO champion Anthony Joshua and then retire from the sport altogether.

Fury, 31, however, told ESPN on Thursday:

“I’m going to fight on till I’m 40 years old.

“I don’t see anyone out there that can challenge me anyway. I’ve just flattened the best out there, the toughest opponent is Deontay Wilder, and we all saw what happened to him the last time out.”

Talks are already rumoured well underway for Fury and Joshua to meet later this year with Saudi Arabia provisionally offering up to £400 million pounds to host this blockbuster encounter.

AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn, however, has recently denied this but did however admit there is a possibility if Wilder and Pulev were to step aside.

Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury

Hearn said:

“Negotiations are definitely not underway because we have a contract to fight Kubrat Pulev next and Tyson Fury has a contract to fight Deontay Wilder next.

“No negotiations can take place until Deontay Wilder decides to step aside and Kubrat Pulev decides to step aside.

Andy Ruiz Jr v Anthony Joshua 2 - Clash on the Dunes, IBF, WBA, WBO & IBO World Heavyweight Title Fight

“Could a deal be struck for Wilder and Pulev to step aside? Absolutely.

“Right now however the focus is on the contracts we have signed, with a move for the winners to fight each other in the spring of 2021.”

Even Hearn, however, openly admits that following the uncertainly of the sport in general and with the aforementioned fights having to be pushed back from June and July respectively, the prospect of a unified world heavyweight championship boxing clash could be just the lift that every boxing fan needs.
