With no Premier League football to get excited about, football fans are resorting to throwback clips. For fans of some clubs, it’s actually quite nice to look back at when they were a lot better than they currently are.One of those clubs is Arsenal.Gone are the days that the Gunners would challenge for the Premier League title every year. In fact, gone are the days that Arsenal would play Champions League football. So you can’t blame Gooners from reminiscing a little bit and, this weekend, one clip got a lot of attention. The clip in question is Samir Nasri’s second goal against Manchester United in 2008 at the Emirates, a game in which Arsenal won 2-1.It starts with a Cesc Fabregas corner which goes over everyone before it’s recycled by Nasri.p1e7e5kq7r1n2028j10eui6a14009.jpgSeventeen passes later and Fabregas puts Nasri through, with the Frenchman firing the ball past Edwin van der Sar to score a quite brilliant team goal. The tweet is captioned: “Throwback to when Arsenal opened prime Manchester United with passes. Wengerball.”

It really is superb.

When you consider who was on the pitch for the respective teams that day, the goal is even better.

The top reply on the tweet really does sum it up.

“Arsenal had a 20 y/o Fabregas, 21 y/o Diaby, 20 y/o Nasri, 19 y/o Walcott, 20 y/o Denilson, 20 y/o Lord Bendtner and played a United side consisting of the likes of Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Neville, Carrick, Rooney, Ronaldo, etc. off the park.

Remarkable if you think about it.”

Unfortunately for Arsenal, they couldn’t produce moments like that too often during the 2008/09 season and eventually finished fourth, 18 points behind champions Manchester United.

They really did play some glorious stuff under Wenger at times, though, didn’t they?
