Becky Grundy has been named as the new head coach of the Western Australia women’s team.
Grundy, aged 29- played seven one day internationals and 12 T20’s for England between 2014 and 2016. She was selected for the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh, retaining her place throughout the group stages and also played a part in the 2015 Ashes series- which England lost at home.
During the 2016-17 season, Grundy also played for Perth Scorchers during their Women’s Big Bash League campaign.
Whilst some would question someone as young as Grundy taking on a head-coach role, she has already been a development coach for Western Australia, and will take over the reigns from Lisa Keightley, who left last year to pursue a role as England head coach. She has played an integral role in the development of some of Western Australia’s emerging new talents, and will take on the role of head-coach for the next two seasons.
Speaking of her new job, the Warwickshire born international said- “It's a huge honour to be appointed head coach of the WA Women's team. WA has a rich history in the game and I aim to continue the great work Lisa Keightley and all the support staff have contributed over a number of years.”

Western Australia Cricket Association General Manager- Kade Harvey said of Grundy’s appointment- “We are very excited for Becky to be leading the WA Women’s program.”

Grundy herself looks forward to working with the staff and playing group, and hopes to have the opportunity to maximise not just their potential to be future Australian internationals, but also as people.
