GiveMeSport fans have had their say, and they would prefer Thierry Henry leading their line over Alan Shearer in a landslide 81% to 19%.

After a little over 90,000 votes, the Frenchman came out on top beating the Englishman by a colossal margin.

Despite Shearer being the leading goalscorer in Premier League history with 260 goals, Henry was always seen as more than just a goalscorer by pundits and fans alike.

The overall winner of the voting appeared 254 times for The Gunners, netting 174 times.

The 42-year-old had stints in Italy with Juventus, Spain with Barcelona, France with Monaco and USA with New York Red Bulls.

Although Henry proved himself in many different countries, it was in north London where the Frenchman proved he was one of the best strikers the game has ever seen.

As well as starring for club, Henry also starred for country. In his 123 appearances for his nation, Henry bagged 51 goals, holding the record for most goals by a single player in French national team’s history.

Like previously highlighted, the French talisman was seen as more than just an outright goalscorer, and still holds the most assists in a single Premier League campaign on 20.

Henry also starred in Arsenal’s 2003-04 ‘Invincible’ campaign, which saw them go an entire season without losing a game. Henry scored 30 times and managed six assists.

Henry and Shearer share only one record in the Premier League, which is the most goals with the right foot in a 38-game season: 24 (2005–06).

Shearer, who ended the vote with a pitiful 19%, also had a very decorated career in the Premier League.

Although Shearer did not leave England’s top-flight in his 18-year career, he did manage to prove he was one of the best in the world.

The English international appeared 441 times in the Premier League netting 260 times, a record that still stands to this day.

Shearer was also named in the PFA Team of the Century (1907-2007), an accolade not many other players who have ever step foot on Premier League soil can say.

Everton v Newcastle United

Henry holds the most goals in a 38-game season and Shearer holds the record for most Premier League goals in a 42-game season, on 34.

The fewest matches to score 100 Premier League goals is also a record held by Shearer, as he completed it inside 124 games.
