There have been plenty of cases of footballers making generous donations to help fight coronavirus.

Unfortunately, that doesn't extend to Emmanuel Adebayor.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker recently insisted he would not be pledging any of his personal riches to the cause.

While the ex-Togo International boasts a reported net worth of around  $45 million, his Facebook Live video was quoted by Marca:

"For those of you who say I don't donate, let me be very clear, I don't donate. It is very simple.

"I do what I want and eat what I want. Later, there will be people who will criticise me for the fact that I did not make a donation in [Togo capital] Lome."

That stance may come as a surprise given his previous charitable efforts, particularly in his native country.

However, the 36-year-old has also had an unfortunate, career-long habit of seemingly rubbing people up the wrong way, including with his finances.

During his time at Spurs, Adebayor was booed for admitting publicly he didn't care whether he played or not and was happy to sit on the bench picking up his wages.

And he's now risked the wrath of fans even further after his team posted a video on Instagram, days after his refusal to donate to fight COVID-19, showing off his luxury cars.

The fleet includes a Rolls Royce, four Mercedes Benz, two Porsches, a BMW and a Range Rover.

The account named 'Team_Adebayor', which is believed to be linked to the team of people around him, uploaded the clip with the caption:

"#MondayMotivation This video is not a message to tell you 'SEA has made it', but rather to say 'You can do it too!' All you need to do is believing in yourself and keep working even when no one is watching. Tag a friend who needs to see this."

Adebayor, who signed for Paraguayan side Club Olimpia earlier this year, is currently spending time in Togo while the professional game takes a hiatus due to the ongoing crisis.

It's not absolutely clear, of course, whether he sanctioned the short video or how much control he has over what his team post.

Either way, it's not a great look - especially after he refused to do his bit on this occasion.
