Football is a game of opinions. You might watch one player and rate him incredibly highly. Your mate might watch the same player and think he’s an overpaid waste of space. It’s something that makes the beautiful game so beautiful. After all, life would be pretty boring if everyone had the same opinion, right?Fans often expend a lot of energy trying to tell everyone they meet that there’s one player who is brilliant but doesn’t get the credit they deserve. The underrated player. They never make the back pages but produce an 8/10 performance week-in, week-out. They shrink into the background and allow their star teammates to take all the plaudits, while they do all the groundwork. So, who are some of these underrated players?Well, talkSPORT host, Adrian Durham, decided to ask that question on Twitter as he tweeted: “Top 5 at 5... underrated footballers in the Premier League era…..”
Immediately, football fans in their floods were replying with players who they believe didn’t - or don’t - get enough credit in England’s top flight.
