Angel Di Maria's wife gives explosive interview about their time in Manchester

Manchester United v Arsenal - FA Cup Quarter Final

When Manchester United signed Angel di Maria for a British record £59.7 million, everyone thought they had just pulled off an incredible signing.

He donned the No.7 shirt and hit the ground running, winning the club’s Player of the Month in September and showing off his class despite a 5–3 defeat to Leicester early on in the 2014/15 campaign.

But things started going wrong for the Argentine and he eventually left the club after just one season, with four goals in 32 appearances to show for it. He did register 12 assists during that time but Di Maria is largely considered a very expensive flop among United fans.

But how can a player of such incredible talent fail to impress at such a massive like Manchester United?

Well, according to his wife, they didn’t exactly like Manchester as a place. In fact, she absolutely hated it.

Di Maria’s wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, has given a quite incredible interview about her views on the place.

"I remember Angel coming up and saying 'an offer from Manchester United has come in. Maybe we'll be a little more financially secure...'," she told Los Angeles de la Manana.

"We fought about it. I told him, not a chance, he could go on his own. 'No, come on. Let's go', he replied.

"There was a lot of money involved, and afterwards, the Spanish were calling us money grabbers. And they were right! If you are working for a company and the competition comes along and offers to pay you double, you take it!"

"I didn't want to go to Manchester because at that moment in time, I was friends with Gianinna Maradona, who was married to [Manchester City striker Sergio] Aguero, and we flew from Madrid to his house in Manchester to pay him a visit for two or three days when Angel had a few days off at Real Madrid.

"It was horrible! All of it was horrible, we went to the house and we were like 'see you later guys, we're out of here'. When we left, I said to him, 'go to any country - except England’.

"Anyway, one year later and there we were in Manchester, a sh*thole. I didn't like anything about it, not a thing.

Newcastle United v Manchester United - Premier League

The women are all skinny, prim and proper... weird. You're walking down the street and you don't know if they're going to kill you or what. The food's disgusting. All the girls are all dolled up to the nines, perfectly made up and there's me with my hair in a bun and with no make-up on.

Wow. She won’t be welcome back anytime soon…

She’s clearly enjoying Paris slightly more considering her husband has been impressing for Paris Saint-Germain for the last five years.
