On this day 11 years ago, Andres Iniesta became a Barcelona legend. After a 0-0 draw in the Champions League semi final first leg between Barcelona and Chelsea at the Camp Nou, all eyes were on Stamford Bridge to see who would reach the final against Manchester United. After Michael Essien's ninth-minute screamer, it appeared as though Chelsea would book a second consecutive final against United. The Blues then had as many as FOUR appeals for a penalty dismissed by referee Tom Ovrebo. It didn’t look as though it would matter. That was until deep into stoppage time when a swing of Iniesta’s right foot saw the ball sail over Petr Cech into the top corner.

It sparked Didier Drogba into a furious rant in front of the TV cameras, calling it a 'f**king disgrace.'

But the away section inside Stamford Bridge was going ballistic - and so too did thousands of Barcelona fans back in Catalonia.

In fact, those supporters back in Spain got rather excited. So much so that it caused a spike in the birth rate in Catalonia nine months on.

And today, on the 11 year anniversary of that Iniesta goal, he’s celebrating it in a rather bizarre way.

He decided to phone some of the children that were conceived following his dramatic strike in west London to wish them a happy ‘conception day.’

Absolutely brilliant.

Barcelona ensured Iniesta’s goal went down in history by going on to win the final that year, beating United 2-0 in Rome.

Samuel Eto’o opened the scoring before Lionel Messi’s superb header sealed the victory.

Wonder how many Barca fans were conceived that night, too...
