After successfully breaking the world deadlift record by lifting an incredible 501kg, the 2018 World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson has decided to share his remarkable daily diet.

The 31-year-old, otherwise known as ‘The Mountain’, is currently set to take on bitter strong man rival Eddie Hall next year in Las Vegas, and as the countdown to this heavyweight contest begins, the Icelandic strongman has decided to reveal what food fuels his considerable strength.

Remarkably, the man mountain, also referred to as Thor, eats six meals a day that equates to around 10,000 calories.

When asked what those meals mainly consist of, Bjornsson said, as per The Sun: “I eat mostly steak, rice, carrots, with some peppers and sometimes chicken.

“There’s a lot of eating if you want to stay the best. I have to eat every two hours, I have to fuel my body.”

To give you a further idea of Bjornsson’s crazy schedule while preparing for a competition, following advice from his nutrition coach Stan Efferding, for breakfast, ‘The Mountain’ is brought six eggs, dozens of bacon and three French toasts.

Following a 10-minute walk to digest this, and around two-and-a-half hours later, it is time for meal number two, which includes rice, spinach, bison and chicken stock followed by some supplements.

After a workout, meal number three follows at 12pm and is a bison rice bowl. A 30-minute nap usually follows before the fourth meal, which consists of carrots, rice, steak, spinach, eggs and chicken broth.

Bjornsson said: “The easiest part is the training, the hardest part is the diet. Diet is very important to stay in shape, to stay strong. So I’m very consistent with my meals.”

Another walk would subsequently follow before a fifth meal that would again include bison and rice.

For his final meal of the day, Bjornsson would usually allow himself a cheat one.

“As long as I have five really good meals one cheat meal is fine providing you stay on track with the rest of the planning.”
