Everton boss would bow to fan power

Everton boss David Moyes has said he would leave the club if the fans want him to go.

The Scotsman is the third longest serving manager in the Barclays Premier League, and has been acclaimed by the media for his continuously impressive results despite working on a shoestring budget at Goodison Park.

A disappointing start to the season left the Toffees languishing in the bottom half of the table, but an impressive change of form since christmas has seen the side rise to mid-table, where they safely sit.

"I've always said I wouldn't want the supporters to get fed up of me because at the end of the day it's their football club, not mine," Moyes told talkSPORT.

"I'm there to do the job and I try to do it to the best of my ability. If I got the feeling they were fed up with me then I'd do something about it. But I don't at the moment."

Moyes understands the frustrations of the fans, and admitted he felt the same way too at the start of the season following their excellent finish to the campaign the previous year.

He also recognises how fortunate he's been to hold the position with the Toffees for so many years, given the hire-and-fire policy that is so regularly seen across football clubs in modern times. It's not something the Moyes takes for granted.

"I went into the season with more confidence in the team. I'm fed up of saying to the supporters every year 'let's just avoid relegation'. I wanted to see if I could change the way we started the season by talking more positively," he continued.

"As it is, it fell flat on its face and I felt really disappointed."

"I still see Everton as one of the biggest clubs in England and I'm really thrilled to be manager of this club. It's not fashionable now to be in a job for nine years, so I'm really grateful."
