Luka Jovic’s Real Madrid career has gone from bad to worse. The Serbian striker joined Real for €60 million last summer, after notching 27 goals for Frankfurt during the 2018/19 campaign. However, a mixture of poor form and injury problems means he has just two goals in 24 appearances to show for his first ten months at the Bernabeu. When the COVID-19 pandemic halted football, he was then investigated by Serbian authorities after he was seen on the streets of Belgrade and pictured at his girlfriend’s birthday party. He has since returned to Spain as La Liga get ready to attempt to resume the 2019/20 season. However, it seems he won’t be playing if the season is resumed. That’s because Real Madrid have revealed Jovic has broken a bone in his right foot.

Spanish outlet Marca have provided further details by revealing that Jovic has fractured his calcaneus bone of his right foot while training at home.

While training at home!?

You really do have to wonder how on earth he’s managed that?

Perhaps he’s followed in teammate’s Lucas Vazquez’s footsteps and dropped a dumbbell on his toe, which caused a break at the end of 2019

It’s believed Jovic’s fracture will take between 6-8 months to heal, meaning he will miss the club’s upcoming “training camp” as they prepare to return to action. He could then need another month on top of that to improve his conditioning and fitness.

Zinedine Zidane’s side will obviously be looking to overtake Barcelona if and when the season does resume.

When the season was halted, Los Blancos trailed Barca by just two points with 11 matches remaining.

If they are to overtake their rivals, they will have to do it without Jovic.
