What a crazy year 2020 has been.

Nobody could have foreseen the events that have taken place this year, including a global pandemic that has forced much of the world into lockdown.

As a result of coronavirus, many sports leagues have been put on hold.

It means Liverpool’s wait to win the Premier League has been extended. They’ve waited 30 years to be champions of England and Covid-19 has added more weeks onto that.

Funnily enough, the Mirror attempted to predict how the Premier League would look in 2020 back in 2012.

Their article included some wild suggestions, including David Beckham being the Prime Minister and Raheem Sterling becoming a grandfather, although they didn’t foresee the season coming to an abrupt halt.

It would be wise if you didn’t take their predictions too seriously…

Did it happen? No, Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/13 season.

Chelsea and Man City go bankrupt

Did it happen? No, both Chelsea and Man City are very wealthy.

Sam Allardyce takes over at Real Madrid

Did it happen? No, and while there’s still time left in the year, there’s no chance Allardyce replaces Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Raheem Sterling is a grandfather and captains England at Euro 2020

Did it happen? No, and Euro 2020 has been postponed.

Arsene Wenger thinks it’s Arsenal’s year

Did it happen? No. Arsenal are ninth in the table and Wenger stepped down in 2018.

Liverpool consider moving to Boston

Did it happen? No, and Liverpool’s plans to increase Anfield’s capacity prove their commitment to Merseyside.

David Beckham is Prime Minister

Did it happen? No, Beckham is too busy with Inter Miami FC to oversee the country.

Sky Sports 4D celebrate Harry Redknapp’s 73rd birthday

Did it happen? No, as far as we’re aware Jim White didn’t gift Redknapp a bunch of flowers outside his house when he turned 73 in March.
