Khabib Nurmagomedov wasted little time in reacting to UFC 249 as Tony Ferguson was left bruised and battered at the hands and feet of Justin Gaethje.

Of course, the main event of UFC 249 was supposed to be Khabib vs Ferguson on April 18, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, that scheduled fight was cancelled.

The Eagle was stuck in his homeland of Russia and he made it very clear to Dana White that he wouldn't be travelling in order to fight Ferguson.

The show must go on, though, as UFC president White said, and he found a replacement for Khabib in Gaethje.

But, during fight week it was announced that the event had to be postponed due to the coronavirus.

Not wanting to cancel altogether, White pencilled in May 9 for the rescheduled date, and it was still going to be Ferguson vs Gaethje.

Luckily for fight fans, the event went ahead this time, and it was a thing of beauty between the two main eventers.

Despite being the underdog, Gaethje controlled the entirety of the fight, completely battering Ferguson in the process.

With the referee waving off the contest due to Ferguson being unable to defend himself, the writing was on the wall.

Mere seconds after the final bell, Khabib piped up on Twitter, posting two very simple, but sly tweets.

The first read: "No comment."

But then the second read: "@Justin_Gaethje it was so impressive, congratulations. Very smart fight."

So maybe we should forget about Ferguson vs Khabib happening in the near future, and instead, look forward to Gaethje vs Khabib...
