The Man City side that were smashed 8-1 by Middlesbrough in 2008 - what happened to them?

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City - Premier League

On this day in 2008, Manchester City suffered one of the darkest days in their Premier League history.

Sven Goran Eriksson’s side travelled to Middlesbrough exactly 12 years ago and they were thumped 8-1.

Richard Dunne was sent off for Man City after just 15 minutes and then the floodgates opened.

Afonso Alves notched a hat-trick for Middlesbrough, with Stewart Downing also bagging a brace.

Elano came off the bench and scored a screamer for the away side with three minutes remaining but that was little consolation.
