Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault, according to reports coming out of the US.

The 42-year-old, whose real name is Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, is said to be accused of also beating a woman in San Antonio, Texas on May 3.

According to reports from TMZ and local news outlet News4SA, Del Rio was arrested after an incident earlier this month.

He was alleged to have slapped the woman across the head as he became angry with her.

More disturbing reports emerged from the arrest affivdit that was released, in which the alleged victim stated that he then forced her to wear a dress and dance for him.

She added that when she initially refused, he told her not to cry and then threatened to drop her son off in the middle of a road somewhere.

The woman has accused Del Rio of also sexually assaulting her. When she reported the detail of the assault, she had her alleged injuries photographed by the police.

Del Rio, who was previously engaged to British WWE superstar Paige during a tumultuous relationship, is said to have been remanded in custody for the time being.

During his initial run in the WWE, Del Rio was a massive hit, winning four world titles and the US title.

There were rumours that Del Rio was in the midst of plotting a return to the sport, a third and final return to WWE.

The veteran wrestler most recently fought against Tito Ortiz on a Combate Americas card back in December where he lost via first-round submission.

It’s clear that those ambitions of a return to the big time will now be firmly in the dustbin after this alleged incident.

He has since been released on bail.
