After Justin Gaethje’s stunning victory against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, we asked you who you think would win a potential blockbuster fight between Gaethje and the unbeaten superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Despite Gaethje’s brutal performance beating Ferguson on the weekend, most of you still believe that Khabib will have the edge over him in a future fight.

Our poll had 76% of you thinking that Khabib will beat Gaethje, with only 24% believing that the interim champion can pull off a shock against the proper champion.

Whilst some believe that Gaethje has a chance after his performance over the weekend, most believe that his stamina would be an issue against the reigning UFC lightweight champion.

Others doubt whether Gaethje would be able to survive Khabib’s superiority once he has taken him down on the floor.

Many have commented that Ferguson’s style would be more of danger to Khabib than Gaethje, and that will mean that the fight is over relatively quickly.

Some of you have cursed the fact that Ferguson is now unlikely to face Khabib after this result, despite the fight being mooted and arranged to happen many times previously before being postponed.

A few of you also floated the prospect of a fight between Conor McGregor and Gaethje as a precursor, with the winner of the match going on to fight Khabib in what would truly be a blockbuster occasion.

Whilst the broad consensus is that Khabib is the likely victor in any future fight with Gaethje, the stunning performance by him this weekend has shown that it is far from a foregone conclusion.

Never rule anyone out when it comes to UFC.
