Liverpool are looking more and more likely to be crowned Premier League champions.Ever since England's top division was put on ice because of the coronavirus pandemic, Kopites have been anxiously anticipating news about how the competition will eventually resume.The threat of the season being rendered 'null and void' has cast a shadow over Anfield with the club having more gone more than 30 years without a league title.It would be heart-breaking for the Reds to have waited three decades, only to have a trophy that is essentially their's ripped away from them, but there are bigger issues at hand.With COVID-19 claiming the lives of thousands, football authorities in France, Belgium and the Netherlands all took the bold decision to end their 2019/20 campaigns.

As a result, Liverpool fans were quaking in their boots more than ever and Sunday's announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson was set for the next major update.
And although sport wasn't directly addressed in the main speech, it has since emerged that major authorities should be prepared for a return to action behind closed doors in early June.
Naturally, that would allow Liverpool to rack up the necessary points to secure the Premier League crown, whether that's at neutral venues or not as well as in the absence of any fans.

In other words, the main governing body for football in England would not allow the Premier League season to be erased from history and therefore, Liverpool are all but champions.
Barring a collapse of monumental sporting proportions, Liverpool will likely be lifting the coveted trophy in just a few month's time by completing their remaining nine scheduled fixtures.
Permutations for relegation-fighting clubs
It does, of course, also mean that clubs such as Norwich City, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Watford and so on will be forced to scramble around for as many points as possible to dodge the drop.
It's a decision that could go down terribly with Brighton & Hove Albion who are opposed to the idea of playing at neutral venues, especially after three players tested positive for COVID-19.
At the top of the table, though, dare we say that everything points towards it being Liverpool's year.
