Conor McGregor posts classy tweet after Khabib Nurmagomedov's father is placed in a coma

UFC 229: Khabib v McGregor Press Conference

Conor McGregor says he’s “praying for the recovery” of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father after he was placed in a coma.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is reportedly in a coma in a Moscow hospital following complications from pneumonia.

UFC president Dana White said he was “saddened to hear” about Abdulmanap’s current state, while McGregor put his rivalry with Khabib to one side to show support to the Nurmagomedov family.

“Praying for the recovery of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov,” McGregor tweeted.

“A man responsible for more World champions, across multiple fighting disciplines, than we even know. A true martial genius!

“Very saddened upon hearing this news tonight. Praying for the Nurmagomedov family at this time.”

It comes just days after McGregor labelled Khabib a "scurrying, hiding rat" and an "embarrassment to real righting" on Twitter.

McGregor also posted a tweet that appeared to show Khabib in a hot tub with friends.

Khabib, who made McGregor tap at UFC 229, responded by asking the Irishman: "Hug legs? Have you forgot how I knock you down, or you typing tweets drunk?"

It was all rather unpleasant.

Khabib was just one of the UFC lightweight fighters McGregor took aim at following UFC 249. He also went for Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier in a Twitter rant.

Reacting to the news of Khabib's father, White said in a statement on Twitter: "Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is a true martial artist who lives a life of pride, honor and respect.

“He instilled those same values in his son, world champion Khabib, at an early age and was always in his corner throughout his career.

"I know how close Khabib is with his father and I’m saddened to hear about his current state.

"My thoughts are with Abdulmanap and the Nurmagomedov family as he continues to fight.”
