Former world number one golfer Justin Thomas has been selected to headline the latest PGA Tour licenced video game.
The 2017 PGA Tour champion and former winner of the Fed-Ex Cup will be the golfer pictured on the cover of the PGA Tour 2k21 title.
HB Studios’ plan is to launch their latest game on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and PC.
The game is due to tee off on August 21 and is set to incorporate 15 PGA Tour courses.
HB Studios were responsible for creating the successful Golf Club series and their latest design includes an all-new career mode that allows the player’s custom-made character to compete with 11 other tour pros for Fed-Ex Cup glory.
When describing the game, Thomas said: “They are legitimate people actually doing the moves. You are creating your own player and trying to make it to the top like we do. The point of the game is to be as realistic as possible.”
What helps with adding to the realism is that the gamer has the ability to design their own character’s equipment using real golf brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Adidas and Taylor Made golf.
Chris Snyder, vice president of marketing for 2k, said: “Our goal is to create the most authentic golf simulation experience ever and HB Studios brings that in PGA Tour 2k21.”
In addition, you are also able to create your own unique golf courses and run tournaments from the virtual game clubhouse, as well as set the entry rules and handicaps for the competition that you design.
To round it off, there is also a range of local and online multiplayer modes such as Stroke Play, four-player scramble and Alt-shot.
In short, HB Studios is aiming to include something for everyone of all skill levels.
