The Undertaker is seen as an iconic figure in WWE, and November 2020 will mark 30 years that he has been in the wrestling industry.However, a moment away from a WWE ring and next to a cage in UFC has always left fans rather confused and wanting answers.Well, luckily in an interview with Candian mixed-martial arts journalist Ariel Helwani, 'Taker has finally opened up about THAT night back in 2010 at UFC 121 when he came face-to-face with Brock Lesnar.So, did 'Taker have a real life feud with Lesnar?It was believed at the time by some fans that there was a lot of animosity between the pair after Lesnar quit WWE in 2004.Up until that point, both Lesnar and 'Taker had been through the Ruthless Aggression Era.'Taker, otherwise known as Mark Calaway, finally answered Helwani that it was in fact Vince McMahon who was the reason behind the famous encounter with ‘The Beast’ at UFC 121.“I was unaware that Dana White had no clue what was going to happen, which I felt horrible about after the fact. I thought there had been some kind of discussion between him and Vince McMahon," The Deadman said, as per talkSPORT.“There was no personal animosity really. It was basically me saying, ‘All right, you left our world, I’m going to come into your world and I’m going to call you out.”
At the time Lesnar was the reigning world heavyweight champion in UFC, but following his loss to Cain Velasquez that night, 'Taker said to him: “You wanna do it?”
The gamble subsequently worked as Lesnar returned to WWE two years later in 2012 and the pair went on to wrestle three matches, the last of them at Hell In A Cell.
Lesnar was also the one ultimately chosen to break Undertaker’s iconic streak at WrestleMania 30, something that remains a highly contentious and debatable topic among wrestling fans to this day.
When asked whether Lesnar knew why 'Taker was there back in 2010, The Phenom said: “He knew I was going to be there, I don’t know how much he knew about what he was going to do.
“We got really lucky that he walked by though as it could have gone another way.”
