Who is the greatest player of all time?

These days, the answer is either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Fans of an older generation may point towards Pele or Diego Maradona.

But how many of think Edilson is the greatest player ever?

Anyone? Nope?

Edilson spent most of his career in his native country playing for the likes of Palmeiras and Corinthians.

He did play 21 times for the national side and helped his side win the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan by appearing numerous times during the competition.

But does he really compare to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo?

Well, the retired forward actually thinks he was better than Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar too during his peak.

No, seriously.

"At my best, I played better than Neymar," he told TV Bandeirantes. "He needs to win the World Cup in order to be better than me.

I have personality and for Messi to be better than me, he also has to win the World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo is just strength, he strikes the ball well with both feet but I'm more skillful than him.

Surely he doesn’t actually think that, does he?

Ok, Edilson has won a World Cup and Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar haven’t but that surely doesn’t make him better on that basis alone.
