Football fans are torn between choosing Brazillian Ronaldo or Cristiano Ronaldo as the better player.

Portugal international Cristiano came out on top, however, with 51% from more than 150,000 votes.

With just a one percent majority, it proves that the debate about who is the greatest Ronaldo remains tight to this day.

Those on Facebook posted their viewpoints on the difficult question.

One said: “No Comparison.. R9 Always.. One played to achieve everything and boast off and show off for the same.. and one played because he was born best at it.. R9 Forever.. Other one can take the name Christiano..”

Another added: “Even without R9, Brazil will win World Cup. Only Messi fans will say that R9 is better than Cristiano.”

“CR7 hands down. You'd argue R9 was better if it weren't for injuries, but there's a reason why CR7 doesn't get injured much. He's a workhorse in and out of the pitch and he always makes sure that his in top condition,” a third contributed.

The duo have enjoyed excellent careers and have left a lasting legacy on the game we have learnt to love and adore.

Ronaldo Nazario’s nickname, O Fenomeno (the phenomenon), is a clear indication of the impact he left on the sport.

The two-time World Cup winner has made 98 appearances for Brazil and won the Ballon d’Or twice.

With a career spanning seven clubs, four countries and 18 years, the Brazillian has won a competition with almost each of his former employers.

Cristiano’s career has lasted the same amount of time as his Brazilian counterpart, however, his records make him stand out as one of the greatest to grace the game.

The prolific forward has the record for scoring the most in the Champions League and is one of a handful of players to have made over 1,000 professional career appearances.

He has also scored more than 700 senior career goals for club and country in comparison to Ronaldo’s 309.
