Boxing legend Mike Tyson believes Floyd Mayweather is “the greatest fighter in the last 100 years."

The 53-year-old – who is currently training to return to the ring – made the bold claim on his podcast.

Mayweather beat UFC star Conor McGregor in Las Vegas back in 2017 in a fight described as ‘the biggest in combat sports history’, and it was that fight Iron Mike was talking about when he praised Money.

Despite losing via a 10th-round TKO, Tyson was impressed with the Irishman’s performance, especially considering he was coming up against the greatest fighter in the last century.

“Listen, he never really had a boxing match in his life,” said Tyson.

He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter in the last hundred years of boxing. He went 10 rounds, scoring punches.

“Did he accomplish something? Look what he had to fight against, and look at what he did when he fought against him.”

McGregor shared the clip on his Twitter page and said a rematch against Mayweather is "inevitable."

“With the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle,” he wrote.

“I will beat Floyd. I promise my life on it.”

However, Mayweather recently denied rumours of a return to the ring, stating he would only consider ‘entertainment’ fights.

“I’m retired, I’m through with boxing,” he told Fight Hype.

“I’m older and a lot wiser. I don’t want to end up like my uncle and end up like a lot of fighters when you don’t know when to hang it up.”

The American made his professional debut back in 1996 and has since become one of the most decorated fighters in the sport’s history.

He has beaten Manny Pacquiao, Jose Luis Castillo, Oscar De La Hoya and many more big names on the way to an incredible 50-0 unbeaten record.
