Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid might just be the most complete footballer of all time.

Signed for a then world-record fee of £80 million in 2009, it took barely a season for Ronaldo to prove that he was worth every penny and he tore up the Bernabeu for nine glorious years.

Ronaldo became the club's all-time record goalscorer with a mind-blowing 450 strikes in 439 games and won four Champions League titles in five seasons to end the club's 12-year drought.

We could go on and on, but unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade, you'll have seen the magical things that Ronaldo did in the Spanish capital countless times.

If there's one regretful thing about Ronaldo's time in Spain, though, it's that his game evolved in a way that, yes, improved his goalscoring but also took away some of the entertainment.

Ronaldo's career evolution

In the words of Ronaldo himself: "You can mix - first goals, and after tricks and assists after. What the people want is goals, so I try to score goals.

"I still do it (skills), not the same as at Manchester, but I still do it. Now I prefer goals, am focused more on goals. Skills comes third."

However, we're thankful to say that is wasn't a strict rule, because there were still occasions when Ronaldo turned into the player that produced highlight reels for a living at Manchester United.

Ronaldo's unique back skill

And as we patiently wait for Ronaldo to return to the beautiful game, we decided to reminisce on one of the Portuguese's most unique ever skills during his final season with Los Blancos.

You might be familiar with players using their backs to control the ball or even pass it - we're looking at you Ronaldinho - but we've seldom ever seen it deployed to turn a defender.

During a 2-1 win over Eibar in which, naturally, Ronaldo bagged himself two goals, the Real striker deceived his rival by allowing the ball to ping off his back and then spun away to collect it.

You can check out the inspired moment that Dennis Bergkamp would have been proud of below:

Talk about a genius.

But it wasn't the first time...

However, if you're a hardcore Real fan, you might remember that Ronaldo had used that trick once before during the 2010/11 season, in the same unique way he did seven years later.

Once again, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner turned his back towards the ball in order to use it as a rebound platform to baffle the defender and race past them. Check it out here:

In our humble opinion, the only thing that's come close is Denis Odoi's turn for Fulham on the opening day of the Championship season against Newcastle United in 2016.

So, yes, we'll happily pay our respects to the second tier there, but there's no comparing when it's Ronaldo up to his old tricks in La Liga and he's willing to prove it wasn't a fluke.
