May 15th is a special anniversary for Arsenal fans.

On that day in 2004, Arsene Wenger's side achieved the unthinkable... finishing the entire 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten.

That squad, of course, goes down in history as the 'Invincibles' - but just how good were they?

Well, they oozed class all over the pitch.

Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp got the goals up top, but just behind them sat an incredible midfield which included Freddie Ljungberg, Robert Pires and captain Patrick Vieira.

Add to that a backline boasting Ashley Cole, Lauren and Sol Campbell sitting in front of legendary goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and it's easy to see why Arsenal were unbeatable.

But how would they match up against a team from the modern era? Perhaps the Premier League champions-elect Liverpool?

That would be one hell of a battle, wouldn't it? The likes of Henry and Bergkamp against Virgil van Dijk, or Mo Salah and Sadio Mane running down the wings against prime Cole.

Arsenal's Invincibles were untouchable

We'll never know for sure which squad would win because they'll never be able to face one another, but that hasn't stopped fans from debating it.

On the GIVEMESPORT Facebook page, we asked you to pick the better team - Arsenal's 2003/04 Invincibles or Liverpool's 2019/20 champions-elect.

Of 126,000 votes cast, 59% of fans think Wenger's stars of yester-year win the argument, with 41% picking Liverpool's current crop.

Arsenal won the PL for the last time in 2004

As far as polls go, that's pretty close. But it's hard to argue with the majority here.

Yes, Liverpool have been fantastic this season and before the campaign was called to a halt, had lost just one game.

They deserve the title and will surely win it once the Premier League returns, but Jurgen Klopp's side won't be able to go 'invincible' as Arsenal did.

Fans wouldn't back Liverpool to contest with Arsenal's 2003/04 team

That crown still sits with the Gunners and it's hard to see anyone taking it off them anytime soon.
