Trent Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpool legend in the making.
He joined his boyhood club as a six-year-old and 15 years later, has played 125 times for the first team. Not only is he a first-team regular but he’s arguably the best right-back in the world right now.
He’s already played in two Champions League finals – winning one of them – and also has Club World Cup and Super Cup winning medals. He was named in UEFA’s Team of the Year in 2019 and was even a Ballon d’Or nominee.
It’s crazy to think he’s just 21.
To prove just how highly Alexander-Arnold is rated around the world, one Liverpool fan has compiled a thread of players and manager praising the wonderkid.
What follows is a series of brilliant quotes from Cafu, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and many more as they try to explain just how good Alexander-Arnold is.
Cafu said: “I think [he] is one of the best in the world, no doubt about it. I would say he has the same characteristics as I did. I think he has what it takes to become a Ballon D’Or winner.”
“He is the future,” Messi said.
Neville added: “I’ve not seen something like him since Cafu. He’s out of this world. The quality he produces is out of this world.”
However, not everyone thinks Alexander-Arnold is the best right-back in the world. In fact, a certain Patrick van Aanholt doesn’t even think Alexander-Arnold is the best right-back in England.
“Better than Alexander-Arnold? Without a shadow of doubt,” Van Aanholt said about Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka earlier this week.
“They are different players. Defensively, Aaron is unbelievable, better than Trent.
“Yes, Trent has got his attacking and his corners, his right foot. But if you ask Wilf [Zaha] who he would want to play against, every other day, Trent or Wan-Bissaka, I think he will say Trent.”
Of course, Van Aanholt is entitled to his opinion but we don’t hear players and managers rushing to heap praise on the Man Utd defender like we do with Alexander-Arnold.
