As strange as it might seem, Mohamed Salah is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.

You'd think that a regular starter in the attack of a Liverpool team that's romping its way to the title would be hyped beyond belief, but Salah has been something of a curious case in recent seasons.

In many ways, Salah seems to be a victim of his own success, challenging for the Ballon d'Or and scoring a Premier League record of 32 goals during his debut season at Anfield.

So, the fact the Egyptian icon hasn't been able to reach those numbers during his second and third campaigns on Merseyside means that people have unfairly looked elsewhere.

Don't get us wrong, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are worth every compliment they've received since 2017/18, but Salah has near enough matched their statistics in the seasons prior.

Is Salah actually underrated?

It's as though Salah has been cast out of the spotlight for having declined from a Ballon d'Or contender to 'just' a world-class player as though that's some sort of collapse.

Anyhow, rant over, because not everybody has given Salah the cold shoulder over the last two years and it doesn't take much digging to realise how much credit he deserves.

After all, we are talking about a player who has won the Golden Boot in every complete Premier League season he's ever played...

Twitter thread on Salah's brilliance

And for those who need a little more convincing on Salah's impact at Anfield, an epic Twitter thread has been drawn up during the competition's absence to make the point abundantly clear.

That's because the aptly-named Twitter user @FootyThreads_ has gone above and beyond the call of duty to prove that Salah is 'THE best attacker in the Premier League'.

It's a bold statement, for sure, but one that they've set out to achieve by comparing Salah to Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane, Harry Kane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling.

You can check out the full thread, which is one hell of a read, down below:

Give Salah the credit

Credit to the creator of the thread here, going into such detail about Aguero's goal-per-game ratio and why claims that Salah tends to dive might actually be unfounded.

The simple fact of the matter is that Salah can go toe-to-toe with out-and-out number nines from a wide position, outscoring Aguero in two consecutive seasons despite a tactical disadvantage.

There hasn't been a more prolific contributor of goals in the Premier League since Salah's return and just because his last two seasons haven't matched 2017/18, it doesn't mean that that should be ignored.

Whether or not you think Salah is the best attacking player in the entire league, there can be no denying that he deserves to be getting just as much hype as Mane and Firmino right now.

Mo goals, mo problems, if you follow.
