English football fans have been asked to name the player they wish their favourite club never sold by Soccer AM's Twitter account.
Hundreds have taken part and we've listed a handful of the answers below...
@scrowe14 | Tottenham fan | Mousa Dembele
Dembele was extremely underrated during his time at Spurs. An elegant midfielder, Dembele racked up 250 appearances for the club after signing in 2012.
However, he fell out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino and was sold to Guangzhou R&F in January 2019.
@BarryLove17 | Manchester United fan | Jaap Stam
Sir Alex Ferguson also believed selling Stam was a mistake.
He said, per the Independent: "At the time he had just come back from an achilles injury and we thought he had just lost a little bit. We got the offer from Lazio, £16.5m for a centre-back who was 29. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. But in playing terms it was a mistake."
@lewiswright7 | Liverpool fan | Xabi Alonso
Liverpool nearly won the title in the 2008/09 season. Alonso left that summer and the Reds would completely fall apart in the following years.
The Spaniard went on to have great success with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
@Djmyaz | Newcastle fan | Yohan Cabaye
Cabaye was a fan-favourite during his time at Newcastle, but his time came to an end in January 2014 when he signed for Paris Saint-Germain.
@Joestephenson03 | Arsenal fan | Alexis Sanchez
Sanchez scored 80 goals in 166 games for the club, but he left in January 2018 with the club struggling.
The Chilean left for Man United, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way. That deal proved to be disastrous for both clubs.
@ShepStreets | Aston Villa fan | James Milner
Milner thrived during his three seasons at Aston Villa. But they couldn't hold on to him as he left for Manchester City in 2010.
@NWolstenholme | Chelsea fan | Eden Hazard
Hazard enjoyed so much success at Chelsea. But he wanted a new challenge and left for Real Madrid last summer.
@WestHaminVegas | West Ham fan | Rio Ferdinand
Ferdinand made his debut for West Ham in 1995 and he quickly emerged into one of the world's best defenders.
He left for Leeds in 2000 and would go on to have an incredible career at Manchester United.
@KevR_7 | Manchester City fan | Edin Dzeko
Dzeko has been scoring goals almost at will since joining Roma in 2016. He could have done the same for City under Pep Guardiola.
@KimBRFC | Blackburn fan | David Bentley
Bentley was sensational during his three season stint with Blackburn. He left for Tottenham in 2008, where his career would go downhill.
@calpawley | Leicester fan | Riyad Mahrez
Mahrez was so good for Leicester. He won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award in 2015/16 as he helped the Foxes to the Premier League title. He left for Man City in 2018.
@CygnusDr | Leeds fan | Eric Cantona
Cantona spent just over a season at Leeds, scoring 14 goals in 35 games. He left for fierce rivals Manchester United and would go on to become one of the Premier Legaue's greatest ever players.
@matt8284 | Everton fan | Wayne Rooney
Rooney burst onto the scene with Everton in 2002 and just two years later he left for Manchester United in a £25.6 million deal. He rejoined the club in 2017 but he was past his best.
