Liverpool are essentially the Premier League champions, whether you like it or not.

The return of the Bundesliga last weekend was a huge step forward for Kopites around the world who have been spending two months keeping their fingers crossed about the 2019/20 season.

It had been touted that the Premier League could be rendered null and void, potentially leaving the Reds in a state of limbo as to whether they’d be crowned champions or not.

France, Scotland and Belgium have all scrapped their seasons, but still named their top team as champions, but the Netherlands have kept the Eredivisie trophy under lock and key this season.

But as the Premier League ploughs on with ‘Project Restart’, it’s slowly being acknowledged that Liverpool fans will get the title celebrations they’ve waited 30 years for at some point.

Open-top bus parade

However, it seems as though some Liverpool fans have simply got bored of waiting for football to return and are ready to celebrate the success of Jurgen Klopp’s men ahead of time.

Thai businessman Kongkiat Inthraseesangwon had already laid plans for Liverpool’s inevitable title success earlier in the year, only to have his schedule altered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Kongkiat had purchased a truck in order to simulate an open-top bus parade in Phayao, northern Thailand; painting it in the club colours along with the motto and gold liver bird.

Spending over £250,000

But Kongkiat became tired of waiting for the Premier League to return to action, deciding to celebrate with his mates by splashing out 10million THB (256,686GBP). Remarkable.

According to the Mirror, Kongkiat explained: “I had planned to bring the trucks out for a parade with the other Liverpool supporters when the team lifted the trophy.

“However, due to the pandemic the league has been postponed so I decided to do the celebration in advance.

“I think the money has been well spent because if we win, it will be the first time in more than 30 years that we have won the league. I think the fans deserve to have their celebration.

“Moreover, after the celebration, the truck will be used in my business so it’s definitely not a waste of money.”

For his sake, we better hope Liverpool do pull through when and if the Premier League comes back.
