Mike Tyson seems deadly, deadly serious about returning to boxing.

Whatever 'Iron Mike' has been thinking about in lockdown has clearly got him motivated to step between the ropes again and training footage has had fight fans on the edge of their seats.

Tyson had regularly uploaded videos to his Instagram page showing him hitting the pads with ferocious power and even leaving his trainer visibly shaken in the mitts.

"I've been working out, I've been trying to get in the ring, I think I'm going to box some exhibitions and get in shape," Tyson explained during an Instagram live.

"I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff.

Tyson planning to return?

"I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps.

"Then I start my day with the boxing thing, I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition."

Ok, that's all well and good, but is Tyson actually in good enough shape to exchange leather again?

Tyson looks in incredible shape

It's impossible to say until we see Tyson in the ring, but new topless images of the sporting legend show he's in remarkable condition for somebody who's 53 years old.

According to The Sun, Tyson addressed his Chinese fans on the social platform Weibo, saying: "Hey I’m Mike Tyson, I’m on Weibo now.

"I’ll let you know, there’s a possibility I might come back, but if I do I’m going to fight with the spirit of Mao."

Could Tyson fight Holyfield?

The American has been absent from the ring since calling time on his professional career in 2005 having lost three of his four farewell bouts.

And with emotional interviews raising questions about his mental wellbeing as well as a separate endeavour into marijuana farming, it was assumed that Tyson would never return to the square circle.

However, it's even been touted that Tyson would be game for a trilogy fight with Evander Holyfield - who has sensationally confirmed his return - or perhaps even Shannon Briggs.

We don't have a clue how that would go down, but what we do know is that Tyson looks incredible at age 53.
