The coronavirus pandemic could seriously alter the landscape of WWE moving forward. 

Since mid-March, televised SmackDown, RAW and NXT shows have been aired from the Performance Center in Flordia, with no crowd in attendance. 

Two pay-per-view events, WrestleMania and Money in the Bank, have also passed in a unique fashion. 

While TV programming continues, WWE of course, have been forced to cancel House Shows. 

Having no live events has been a massive blow to the company, cutting one of their most important revenue streams.   

But it seems the impact of COVID-19 will be felt for much longer. 

According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE 'may or may not ever do House Shows again.'

He noted that the company were drastically cutting back on their live event schedule even before the coronavirus pandemic hit. 

Therefore, WWE could choose to simply cut House Shows and concentrate all their energy on television events instead, which is what they have been doing for the last few months.

Alvarez's theory also ties into Vince McMahon's suggestion that there are indeed doubts over the future of WWE House Shows. 

"I don’t think we’re going to be in the live event business like we were before," McMahon said during a financial call, per Ringside News. 

"It will be more content-oriented, not live events. There is a different learned behaviour in terms of the consumer. If anyone can figure it out we will." 

Of course, no one will be rushing back to fill arenas anytime soon. But the suggestion that House Shows may never return certainly comes as a shock. 

Televised events are great. But fans love the different atmosphere that House Shows bring and lots of Superstars enjoy working them just as much. 

Should WWE lose that, it will be a massive shame.
