The closure of hairdressers across the world has led to some interesting trims in the world of football.

Hair and beauty salons are amongst the long list of businesses that remain closed in the UK, as well as other countries, in order to help contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

So, it was inevitable that many Premier League footballers returned to training this week with some far from ideal haircuts - and all in front of the watching eyes of club photographers.

There was an assortment of typically bald players looking completely strange with hair on their head, while others appeared to be doing their best impression of Tom Hanks in Castaway.

We're not here to judge and we're sure these players will have their barnets sorted out when it's legal to do so, but we can't help making light fun of the situation in the mean time.

Funniest Premier League trims

Besides, players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have already taken the situation in good jest and hats off to them for resisting the urge to break lockdown for the sake of their appearance.

So, in celebration of the wacky haircuts doing the rounds, we've decided to pick 14 of the funniest trims to emerge from lockdown and you can check them out for your own amusement below:

Sadio Mane

I feel you, Sadio, I really do.

Man to man, I'm not doing brilliantly in the hairline department, either, but it could be time to invest in a shaver. That's not against lockdown, after all, though his broad smile suggests he doesn't really care and frankly, I rate that.

Jack Grealish

We saw earlier this season that Grealish does not like his hair to be interfered with, but he'll need all two metres of the social distancing rules to ensure that's the case with his high-volume new look.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Some rather amusing edits have made it look as though Aubameyang has emerged from the priesthood in lockdown when, in actual fact, it's not all that bad.

But that doesn't mean that a strong gust of wind wouldn't push his hairline back to Borussia Dortmund. Sorry, Pierre-Emerick.

Roberto Firmino

Retro looks are all the rage right now and Firmino has given us a taste of the 1980s with a trim that's been compared to a young Ross Geller from Friends.

I'm afraid we can't see this catching the attention of Jennifer Anistion though, Roberto.

Paul Pogba

'What's so abnormal here?' we hear you ask. Well, that's the point.

It looks a little bizarre to see Pogba going for such a run-of-the-mill haircut and we kind of dig it.

N'Golo Kante

Little change here... but Kante with hair!? Madness. Almost as crazy as Ashley Young embracing the keratin.

Erik Lamela

A strange amount of lads have decided 'f*** it, I'm getting the bleach' during lockdown and clearly Lamela wanted his luscious locks to match the Tottenham home shirt.

There's something apt about the fact this week marked the 20th anniversary of the Marshall Mathers LP, if you catch our drift.

Alisson Becker

It's hard to blame Alisson for donning the Jesus look when he's been walking on water for Liverpool this season.

Adama Traore

It might not do his wind resistance any favours when he's bombing down the wing at 100mph, but we're unabashed fans of Traore embracing the mini afro.

That doesn't mean it looks any less amusing, though.

Jonny Evans

A lot of guys must relate to this. There was a scramble at the start of lockdown to go completely bald in the hope it would pay off when freedoms returned and Evans has joined the club.

We can imagine he's walloped some bullet headers off that bare skull of his in training this week.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

You half expect Kepa to be stood behind a bunsen burner and a chalkboard full of mathematical equations with a barnet like that.

Kelechi Iheanacho

You've got to respect the ex-Manchester City striker for bravely embracing the goatee here.

There's something about his new look that makes it seem as though he's about to talk about the meaning of life itself. You dig?

Jorginho

Some fans have claimed that Jorginho's new styles makes him look like Cesc Fabregas, but we're inclined to think that does Fabregas something of a disservice. Trim the beard, Jorgy.

Ross Barkley

We're not just talking about head hair here - try saying that ten times in a row - but also beards and moustaches, which - it turns out - look pretty strange on the usually clean-shaven Barkley.

It doesn't look bad per se, just funny in the way that Kante with hair is.

Dodgy haircuts all round

If you walked into a hairdressers where pictures of these trims were on the wall, you'd be out of there quicker than Frank de Boer at Crystal Palace.

Of course, at the end of the day, it's all a bit of fun and haircuts are extremely unimportant at a time where people are losing their lives to a horrible virus.

Hopefully the players above being able to tidy up their trims will also mark the time where we can return to a normal life safe in the knowledge that COVID-19 is a thing of the past. Stay safe out there.
