Mike Tyson has expressed his interest in returning to boxing in 2020.'Iron Mike' is one of the most feared boxers to ever step into the square circle, becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in history and winning 44 professional bouts by knockout. However, it's well documented that Tyson endured a disappointing end to his career, suffering three defeats in his final four fights and has stayed away from the ring in the 15 years since. It was presumed that Tyson would never lace the gloves again after a multitude of interviews called his mental wellbeing into question, seemingly showing remorse for his aggressive fighting style. But whatever 'The Baddest Man on the Planet' has been thinking about in lockdown has clearly encouraged him to return to the sport that catapulted him to stardom.

Tyson on the comeback trail

That's because the American has declared his interest to partake in exhibition bouts and has backed up his claims by whipping himself into some incredible shape.

Tyson has uploaded training footage to Instagram, hammering the pads with a series of hooks, while images on Chinese social media showed his ripped physique at 53 years old.

Long-term rival Evander Holyfield could be a potential opponent after similarly emerging from retirement, while Shannon Briggs has also thrown his hat into the ring.

Tyson's body transformation

But regardless of whether Tyson stays true to his word and exchanges leather in 2020, there's still plenty of reason to be proud of the former champion for all his work in the gym.

That's because Michael Benson, the Online Boxing Editor for talkSPORT, has uploaded a superb 'before and after' image showing how Tyson's physique has changed in just two years.

We highlighted the extent of Tyson's body transformation earlier this month, but there's something even more incredible about an image as recent as 2018 showing the extent of the change.

Check out the snaps below to see the leaps and bounds Tyson has come along in just two years:

You love to see it. You really do.

Many boxing fans and people in the sport have expressed their concerns about Tyson coming back and it's always impossible to tell how good an exhibition bout can be.

You only need to look at Floyd Mayweather's farcical clash with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in late 2018 to see how 'non-competitive' bouts can border on stupidity.

But we're inclined to think that Tyson deserves his moment in the sun for everything he's done for the sport of boxing and all the hard work he's put in to get himself back in shape.

At the end of the day, it's just good to see the legendary fighter looking himself again and whatever happens with his return will never tarnish the achievements of his pro career.
