Vince McMahon is ready to call up Matt Riddle to the main WWE roster.

The former MMA star established himself as one of NXT's top guys soon after swapping the cage for the squared circle.

Riddle made his NXT debut in October 2018 and has since become a fan favourite.

He formed half of the very popular 'Broserweights' tag team with Pete Dunne, winning the tag titles and the Dusty Classic with his partner.

Despite never winning the NXT Championship, it's reported McMahon is now ready to call Riddle up to the main roster.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter report that the 'Original Bro' is set to move 'imminently' and PWInsider add that he will be joining SmackDown.

Plans were in place to move Riddle to the Blue Brand ahead of WrestleMania 36, but they were put on hold coming out of the pay-per-view.

Discussions restarted a few weeks ago and he now looks set to leave NXT and could appear on SmackDown as early as this Friday.

Riddle is set to move to the Blue Brand

It seems McMahon has been a big fan of Riddle for a long time, with WWE sources telling WrestlingNews last November:

"Vince likes guys like Shawn who have that rebel mentality and he sees some of Shawn in Matt.

"Matt can rub some people the wrong way but he’s a good guy and he will do great when Vince calls him up. I think he’s a future world champion.

Riddle has won just one title in NXT

"Vince will try to tweak him but his personality will get him far."

Riddle will have what could be his final match in NXT on Wednesday. He faces Timothy Thatcher in a Cage Fight, with Kurt Angle as the guest referee.

Riddle has been very impressive in NXT

It's not confirmed if this will be the Original Bro's farewell match, but all signs are suggesting it could well be.
